About Derdriu

Derdriu Ring was born in Cahirsiveen, County Kerry, Ireland and is a graduate of The Gaiety School of Acting. She is a proud member of AEA & SAG, and has acted across North America and Ireland for over 25 years.

Ring, who moved to the United States from Ireland in 1997, performed her first Equity role in this country in "Dracula," at the Cleveland Playhouse. She worked at the Guthrie Theatre in Minneapolis for two years before moving to New York and working in regional theater across the country, from Hartford to Los Angeles, plus Off-Broadway at the Irish Repertory Theatre in New York.

She moved back to Cleveland to star in "Proof" at Cleveland Playhouse in 2003.

The actor has performed everywhere from Great Lakes Theatre to Dobama to Beck Center for the Arts in Northeast Ohio. She's won best actress awards from the Cleveland Critics Circle three times.

TEACHING

Derdriu has worked as a teaching artist with Playhouse Square, including involvement with their International Children’s Festival, Disney in The Schools Program and The Broadway Summer Camp. She has also served as an Artist In Residence with both Cleveland School of the Arts and Kulture Kids.

At present, Derdriu is available for private coaching for college auditions.

She is a professor of theatre at Lakeland College.
